OKLAHOMA CITY – Apparently, home ice advantage is a big deal for the Oklahoma City Barons.

In this case, it was worth about 16 goals.

After dropping a 7-0 contest against the Texas Stars last week in Austin, the Barons turned it around and won 10-1 on Saturday in their home opener.

The Barons came out blazing, scoring three goals in a span of just 1:30 midway through the first period.

But the first period wasn't even their most impressive of the game.

OKC notched six goals in the second period, a franchise record.

Another record fell when Teemu Hartikainen and Chris Vandevelde scored at the 11:13 and 11:23 marks of the second, setting a record for the fastest two goals, just 10 seconds apart.

The Barons scored on three of six power play chances while killing all three of Texas' power plays.

Oklahoma City dedicated its opening night to breast cancer awareness and each fan received pink t-shirts from the Barons and Mercy Health Systems.

Opening weekend continues on Sunday for the Barons as they host the Houston Aeros at 4 p.m.
