Posted: Updated:

OKLAHOMA CITY – A man was taken to the hospital after being tasered by Oklahoma City police Saturday night.

Police say they responded to a disturbance call at a convenience store, located at 10th Street and Council Road in Oklahoma City. Caller stated a middle-aged man went into the store and ordered the clerk to leave.

According to police, the man did not take anything from the store. He then went next door to Martha's Tavern, where he proceeded to confront the patrons.

Patrons at the bar were attempting to subdue the man as officers arrived, police say.

A police spokesman said the man's behavior led the officers to believe he may have been on phencyclidine (PCP) or some other drug. Police then tasered the man in an attempt to arrest him.

The man was taken to Southwest Medical Center as a precaution. According to police, he will be taken to jail once he is cleared from the hospital.
