OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma Governor Mary Fallin has welcomed a new addition to her family.

The governor's family began fostering "Hot Dog", who was found abandoned near a grassfire in Northeast Oklahoma City. He is named after the "hot" conditions he was found in.

Fallin said Hot Dog is a great playmate for her other dog Rascal.

The governor's family plans to permanently adopt the dog from the Oklahoma City's Animal Welfare Division. Fallin said she encourages people who are interested in having a pet to consider fostering or adopting one.

"Adopting a dog is a great way to bring joy into your life. Hot Dog is a wonderful addition to our family, and I encourage anyone considering getting a pet to attend this weekend's "Midnight Woofness" adoption fair in Edmond," Fallin said.

The "Midnight Woofness" is hosted by the Central Oklahoma Humane Society. It takes place from late night Friday until 5 p.m. Sunday, at the PetSmart in Edmond, 1921 S. Broadway.
