OKLAHOMA CITY -- In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, News 9 is devoting an entire hour to the fight against this disease.

In honor of all the women affected by breast cancer, we chose to celebrate one very deserving woman with an afternoon full of the VIP treatment.

Wendi Weaver, a wife and devoted mother of five, was diagnosed with breast cancer earlier this year. Nominated by her close friend, News 9 at 4:00's Christina Eckert, Wendi has already endured a double mastectomy and three rounds of chemotherapy. Truly beautiful on the inside and out, even without hair, Christina's wish is that through this difficult journey, Wendi knowS that she is an inspiration of strength and courage.

According to Christina, Wendi is always the first to step in and help anyone in need. With the help of her son and his friends, she began the charity, Project Care, a few years ago. The group raises money during the holiday season to provide inner city children with Christmas gifts. She wanted her son to know how important it is to help others and to be a blessing to those around you, even those you may not know. Wendi also started the women's running group, runHers and has helped dozens of women improve their self confidence through walking and running. Some have even gone on to run half and full marathons with her encouragement.

Throughout this cancer journey, Wendi is still rallying to be there for her family and especially her kids. Losing her hair, though, has taken a toll on her self esteem, and according to Christina, some assistance with makeup application might help. We enlisted the assistance of Anthony David and his staff and after enhancing her already natural beauty, Wendi spent the afternoon shopping until she dropped with her own Dillards' personal shopper.

After Wendi reveals her new look on News 9 at 4:00 on Wednesday, she is preparing to tackle her next challenge, Race for the Cure, Saturday, October 15th.
