ALLEN, Oklahoma -- An Monday morning house fire claims the life of a Pontotoc County woman.

It happened in Allen, where the woman lived by herself. Investigators are looking into the cause of the blaze.

This is the second deadly fire across central and western Oklahoma. October is Fire Prevention Month.

The Red Cross is encouraging Oklahomans to remember two key fire safety steps: installing smoke detectors and developing a fire escape plan.
