EDMOND, Oklahoma -- An Edmond assistant fire chief is on leave.

Edmond police say Tim Wheeler is on paid administrative leave. Officers say there is an active investigation, but would not elaborate on the issue.

Wheeler told News 9 that he's surprised about the case against him and that he looks forward to returning to work. Wheeler also said he believes the investigation is connected to what he called a "frivolous complaint" that was filed after he met with an employee about the employee's performance.

Wheeler has been with the department since 2001. Before that he served on the Chickasha fire and police departments.
