TAMPA, Florida -- Oklahoma football legend Lee Roy Selmon suffered a stroke in Tampa, Fla. Friday. WTSP in Tampa has reported that the Pro Football Hall of Fame defensive end is still alive, but in serious condition, according to his brother Dewey.

Kenny Mossman, the Senior Associate Athletics Director at OU, confirmed Lee Roy Selmon's status via Twitter. Mossman tweeted that he had talked to the Selmon family, and that Lee Roy had not passed as of 6:37 p.m.

Selmon played on two National Championship teams with Oklahoma in 1974 and 1975, winning both the Lombardi and Outland Trophies in 1975. He was selected first overall in the 1976 draft by Tampa Bay, playing his entire nine-year career with the Buccaneers.

He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995 after being selected to six Pro Bowls and five All-Pro selections. Selmon stayed in Tampa, Fla. after retiring from the NFL, opening a successful chain of local restaurants.
