DES MOINES, Iowa – Starting pitching J.A. Happ was near unhittable for the Oklahoma City RedHawks Sunday in a 4-0 win over the Iowa Cubs.

Happ allowed just one hit in seven innings and struck out six batters. The only hit he gave up came against the second batter he faced, and the Cubs (59-70) did not get another runner past first base for the rest of the game.

Iowa starter Jay Jackson managed to match Happ through the majority of the game. He gave up just four hits in the first five innings and both teams remained scoreless until the sixth, when Jackson finally broke.

The RedHawks (60-69) recorded three hits in the inning, nearly matching their output in the first five frames combined. Jose Vallejo and Luis Durango each drove runs home with singles, and the final out of the inning came when Vallejo was thrown out at the plate.

The Cubs pulled Johnson after that, and OKC took advantage by scoring one run in each of the next two innings to stretch its lead to four. That was all the RedHawks' pitchers needed.

Happ left after the seventh inning, but Fernando Abad picked up where Happ left off. Abad retired the six batters he faced in a row, which finished off the RedHawks' one-hitter.

Oklahoma City now has won the first two games of a four-game series in very different ways after winning Game 1 11-10 Saturday. The teams will face each other again at 7:05 p.m. Monday.
