NORMAN, Oklahoma -- Oklahoma expects senior offensive tackle Jarvis Jones to return from a knee injury in time to play in the Red River Rivalry game against Texas in October.

Assistant coach Bruce Kittle said Monday that Jones' rehab from his surgery in March has been going well and his range of motion is already better than expected.

Jones tore the patella tendon in his right knee during spring practice and had surgery to repair it. He played in all 13 games for Oklahoma last season, with three of his four starts coming at left tackle.

The timeline for Jones' return would still keep him out of the Sooners' first few games this season. Oklahoma plays its opener Sept. 3 against Tulsa and would play four games before facing Texas on Oct. 8.
