JONES, Oklahoma -- A live mortar found inside the garage of a home in Jones has been retrieved and transported to the Oklahoma County Sheriff's Office bomb range for disposal.

The bomb squad was called to the home in the 9600 block of N. Hiwassee in Jones, where a man found a mortar in the garage of a house. The man was recently given permission to retrieve items from within the house when the he discovered the mortar.

Bomb Squad personnel responded around 12:30 p.m. and were assisted by the Jones Police Department.

Hiwassee Raod between 108th Street and Britton Road was reopened about 3:15 p.m.
