DES MOINES, Iowa -- For the second consecutive night, the RedHawks' bats failed to show up and they fell to the Iowa Cubs 5-2, marking their second consecutive loss of the road trip.

Casey Coleman (3-2) made it easy defensive work for the Cubs (43-51), giving up just two earned runs on six hits, while striking out four in his six innings of service for Iowa. His only two earned runs came in the top of the first, thanks to a Colin DeLome RBI triple and a Robinson Cancel ground out.

The Cubs responded in the bottom of third, taking the lead for good.

After Brett Jackson doubled on a fly ball to center field, DJ LeMahieu singled to center to bring him home and cut the deficit to one run. Two batters later, Bryan LaHair homered over the right field wall with a runner on base to take a 3-2 advantage.

That was enough to earn a loss for RedHawks' (40-54) starter Sergio Perez, who was pulled an inning later after 4.1 innings of service, allowing three earned runs and six hits. The Cubs tacked on two more insurance runs in the bottom of the eighth to close the door on an Oklahoma City comeback.

Oklahoma City will try to end its losing streak and close the series at 1:05 p.m. Sunday, before traveling to Albuquerque to take on the Isotopes in a four-game series.
