DEL CITY, Oklahoma -- Family members and friends will gather at Del City High School Monday night to remember a young graduate who drowned over the weekend.
Eighteen-year-old Julian Brockington died Sunday morning while swimming at Lake Murray. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says Brockington was trying to swim across a 300-foot stretch of water, but couldn't make it.
Brockington graduated from Del City High School in 2010. He was a standout defensive back for the school's football team. He played for one semester at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College before returning home. He also played baseball, but relatives and friends say football was his first love and passion.
The candlelight vigil is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. Monday at Del City High School. Around 200 people are expected to attend.
