OKLAHOMA CITY -- Former OU great and NFL star Roy Williams steps off the field to help educate the public about drug abuse and addiction in Oklahoma.

Specifically, the impact drug court and mental health court programs have on our state. Currently the programs provide more than 4600 non-violent offenders with highly structured, judicially monitored treatments.

Williams says it serves as an alternative to incarceration, because sending offenders to jail often doesn't fix the problem.

"After serving a full sentence, like 3 or 4 years in jail, there are like people leaving prison prone to go back to what they know," Williams said.

It's estimated drug court and mental health court programs save taxpayers millions of dollars annually.
