EDMOND, Oklahoma -- An SUV hit and killed a man Saturday night as he was leaving an Edmond restaurant.
Edmond Police said 87-year-old Richard Vaill and his wife were walking across the street after leaving the restaurant Café 501 near 5th Street and Boulevard Street when the driver of the SUV hit Vaill.
"There was group of three crossing the street and then this man and his wife were behind that group and a car was going northbound. It was kind of hard to see them because it was dark, and the next thing he heard was a big thud and he struck this gentleman," said Glynda Chu, Edmond Police Spokesperson.
Vaill was transported to a hospital where he died.
Officers are calling the incident a tragic accident. Police said no charges will be filed against the driver of the SUV.
