OKLAHOMA CITY – Firefighters battled bitter cold conditions as they fight a house fire on the city's northeast side.
Firefighters were called to the home near 26ths Street and Jordan Avenue after an engine company was called to the scene to check out smoke. The smoke ended up being from a fire in the home.
Crews said the elderly couple that lives in the home made it out safely.
The News 9 crew on the scene said they are being told the Red Cross is having trouble making it to emergency scenes, this one included, due to treacherous roads. Firefighters advised the couple to file an immediate claim with their insurance company for help.
It is unclear what sparked the blaze.
