OKLAHOMA CITY -- Oklahomans dug deep over the holidays and broke a record for donations for the Salvation Army's Red Kettle drive.

Oklahomans donated a little more than $560,000.

In Oklahoma, Cleveland and Canadian Counties the Salvation Army's goal for donations was exceeded. Along with the generosity, the Salvation Army said the great weather and a higher awareness contributed to the successful campaign.

"People understand it's tough economic times. There are a lot of people in need, and they've just come through like gang busters this year for us.

Potter also says they had more volunteers than ever last year, and they raised 20 thousand dollars more than last year.
