SAPULPA, Oklahoma -- Sapulpa Police have arrested an inmate who escaped from a  Department of Corrections facility in Tulsa after a four-hour standoff at a Sapulpa motel early Friday morning.

The man had recently escaped from the Avalon Treatment Center in Tulsa.

Police tell News On 6 they found 26-year-old Bruce Yates' car in the parking lot of the Interstate Inn on West 56th Street and knocked on his motel room door.

A woman inside came out freely and was arrested, but Yates declined.

Teams on the scene used tear gas and a flash bang device to force Yates out of the room.

He was not hurt and was booked into the Creek County jail.

Yates was serving time out of Tulsa County on several convictions including second-degree burglary and possession of a controlled and dangerous substance.
