OKLAHOMA CITY -- A Sears employee who tried to stop a suspected shoplifter was cut when the man attacked him with a knife.

Oklahoma City Police said security guards at the Sears at 4400 S. Western saw a man stuffing merchandise into his pants. He then tried to leave the store without paying for it.

Two employees tried to detain the suspect in the parking lot and engaged in a physical altercation with him. During the scuffle, the suspect pulled out a knife and cut one of the employees on his elbow and neck. The worker was taken to the hospital where he received several stitches.

Police have released several surveillance photos of the suspected shoplifter taken as he walked around the store. The man escaped in an older model gold or champagne-colored Cadillac. Anyone with information about his identity should call Crime Stoppers at 405-235-7300.
