Oklahoma City Man Accused Of Smuggling Drugs In Candy Boxes

OKLAHOMA CITY -- An Oklahoma City man is accused of trying to use his workplace and boxes of Nerds candy to smuggle Oxycontin.

Matthew Farris worked at the Wireless Rigs office located at the TravelCenters of America Truck Stop on Morgan Road near Interstate 40. Police said someone shipped 50 Oxycontin pills mixed in with the candy to the 23-year-old employee.

Farris' boss, who had traveled from Missouri to fire Farris, opened the package because it was addressed to the business. When he discovered the pills, he called police.

After officers arrived, Farris called his employer to ask if a package had arrived for him. The employer said yes, and Farris said he would come pick it up. When Farris arrived at the truck stop, police arrested him.

During a search of Farris' car, officers also found marijuana and a glass pipe with drug residue. He was booked into the Oklahoma City Jail on several complaints, including possession without a prescription, and possession with intent.
