OKLAHOMA CITY -- Oklahoma City police said a teenager lied about an attempted abduction near McKinley Park Friday afternoon.

Oklahoma City Police Sgt. Jennifer Wardlow said when police arrived on the scene, the 16-year-old told investigators a white male jumped out of a car near 1633 W. Park Place and tried to kidnap her. She told police she wrestled with the suspect and was able to get away.

Officers then took her downtown to police headquarters where they interviewed the girl for several more hours and eventually police determined the girl was never telling the truth.

Concern was heightened because the teen's suspect description matched that of a suspect involved in other abduction cases in the area. The concern of a possible connection had neighbors and parents on edge.

"It's becoming…it's looking pretty bad. It keeps occurring over and over with our children and in our neighbor. Really, I don't know what to do but kinda get together on a neighborhood watch program, which is what I'm trying to get started with a few people that walk around and watch the children," said neighbor Tony Boyd.

Police say the girl could be charged for making the story up, but that's not likely to happen.
