NORMAN, Oklahoma -- Wednesday's earthquake was centered in Norman and while it rattled a lot of nerves, it did not cause a lot of damage.

Structural engineers at the University of Oklahoma have been examining the stadium and they don't believe the quake did any damage. All other campus buildings also appear to be structurally sound.

The most intense shaking may have been felt in the Oak Ridge addition east of Norman, just a half mile from the epicenter.

"Well, I just felt some tremor. I thought it was an explosion," homeowner Barbara Woolley said. "I thought, my goodness, something has exploded in the area. And I came outside and asked my husband if he felt it and he said, well I felt something."

The strongest earthquake ever recorded in Oklahoma hit near El Reno on April 9, 1952. It had a magnitude of 5.5, broke a lot of windows and caused a 15-foot crack in a wall at the state capitol.
