YUKON, Oklahoma – A man out for a jog helped police in Yukon catch a teenager accused of breaking into several cars in the Parkland neighborhood.

Police said the man left his home early Tuesday morning to go running in the 200 block of Kings Canyon Road.  He noticed a strange car parked in his driveway, so he called police.

When officers came out to investigate, they determined the car belonged to a juvenile they say had broken into at least three cars in the neighborhood. Police caught him running down the road, carrying a Tupperware container filled with dollar bills and change.

Officers said the teen admitted he was "car hopping," which is slang for breaking into unlocked vehicles. Police arrested the 17-year-old and booked him into the Gary Miller Juvenile Justice Center.

The Yukon Police Department credited the active Neighborhood Watch group in the area for catching the suspect so quickly. The department has been working with the Parkland neighborhood association to increase awareness of crime prevention.
