OKLAHOMA CITY -- The Oklahoma County Sheriff's Office has released the name of a man accused of speeding away from a deputy, then slamming into several cars in Nichols Hills.

The deputy said 34-year-old Michael Burris sped past him late Monday night in a black Lexus sedan, driving erratically.  The deputy tried to pull Burris over on Broadway Extension, but Burris exited on Wilshire Boulevard and headed towards Nichols Hills.

The deputy began chasing Burris when he refused to stop. Burris then crashed into an SUV near the intersection of Wilshire Boulevard and Harvey Place. The suspect's vehicle continued traveling for a quarter of a mile, driving through yards and slamming into four parked cars, until it came to a stop on N. Harvey Avenue near N.W. 79th Street.

Officers said Burris then got out of the vehicle and confronted the deputy physically. Burris tried to run away, but was eventually captured by Oklahoma City police, who assisted in the foot pursuit.

The deputy had a few scratches from the altercation, but no one was severely hurt during the incident.

Burris faces several charges, including eluding an officer, assault and battery on an officer, hit and run, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
