EDMOND, Oklahoma -- The City of Edmond's Park and Recreation Department hosted its 2nd annual Cardboard Boat Regatta Saturday morning.

Amateur sailors put their paddles into Arcadia Lake in boats made with paint, duct tape and glue to hold together their creations. They said it's a great event to bring families together.

"We get to spend a lot of time together," said Cardboard Boat Regatta participant Stuart Jackson. "Like I said, it takes a lot of time so it's a lot of together time with the family having a good time."

The boat made to look like a dragon took Jackson's family about six hours to put together and they won their race.

Awards were given for the best boat, the best costumes and the most dramatic sinking. The next cardboard boat regatta is planned for August next year.
