EDMOND, Oklahoma -- With the first day of school comes flashing yellow lights, and numerous Edmond motorists learned the consequences on Thursday of speeding in those school zones.
Edmond police stopped 122 vehicles in school zones Thursday.
Police stopped about 70 morning rush hour drivers resulting in 53 ticket and 17 warnings.
Violations were fewer in the afternoon, with only 52 total stops. Thirty-three tickets and 19 warnings were issued.
Most tickets were written for speeding and carry a hefty fine of $249. All fines in a school zone cost more than a regular traffic violation.
