PETA Investigating Dog Boarding Kennel in Earlsboro, Oklahoma

OKLAHOMA CITY -- The national office for People For The Ethical Treatment of Animals confirms the organization is investigating Melinda's Dog World in Earlsboro, Oklahoma.

A spokesperson with their emergency response division said they have received several alarming reports and complaints and alarming pictures of deplorable conditions, dismembered dog parts, and dead puppies.

Earlsboro Mayor Blake Jones confirms the city has received several complaints from neighbors about the smell and the conditions, but he said Melinda's Dog World is in compliance with city ordinances.

The Pottawatomie County Sheriff's Department confirmed they have a report from June 22 where deputies were called out to investigate a complaint about the smell and the conditions at Melinda's Dog World. Deputies showed up and the owner, Melinda Ray, gave officers consent to search the property and no violations were found.

The sheriff's department also confirms they were called out about a year ago to investigate conditions and at that time they did call in the state veterinary board and the Department of Environmental Quality to investigate. Both the mayor and the sheriff's department confirm Melinda's Dog World has cleaned up since the state asked her to do so and that she has met the specific requirements set forth by the state.

The Pottawatomie County Sheriff's Office also said a man who is complaining about Melinda's Dog World could be charged with trespassing. The owner has "no trespassing" signs on the property and the man admits he went on the property and took some pictures. Charges against the man are pending.
