Renters May Be Eligible for Disaster Assistance for May Tornadoes

May tornado victims who rent their home may be missing out on available assistance. Through its Individual and Households Program, FEMA offers two kinds of housing assistance that target eligible renters.

OKLAHOMA CITY -- May tornado victims who rent their home may be missing out on available assistance. Through its Individual and Households Program, FEMA offers two kinds of housing assistance that target eligible renters.

Renters and homeowners may also be eligible for Other Needs Assistance. It's designed to help survivors with uninsured necessary expenses and serious needs caused by the disaster.

To qualify for any aid, renters must first register with FEMA.

You can either call 1-800-621-FEMA, log onto the disaster assistance Web site or visit a Disaster Recovery Center.
