Battle Continues Over New Edmond Apartment Complex

EDMOND, Oklahoma -- Edmond residents fighting the development of an apartment complex have the city planning commission on their side.

Tuesday night, the commission denied plans to build The Greens at Coffee Creek Apartments at the corner of Shortgrass and Covell roads.

Neighbors claimed the apartments would result in crime and congested traffic.

"Whether we like it or not, crime does migrate towards apartments. The city's own statistics support that, and we just don't want that introduced to our neighborhood, our children or our families."

The developer will now take his case in front of the Edmond City Council, which does not have to follow the recommendation of the planning commission.
