OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City police are still searching for two men who tried to rob a FedEx driver at an apartment complex.
At about 1:25 p.m. the victim said two men jumped in the truck as he was making a second delivery at the Raindance Apartments on 122nd near Pennsylvania Avenue.
One man armed with a gun demanded money and held the victim at gunpoint while the other suspect went to the back of the truck to search through the packages. At one point, the driver said he was hit in the back of the head, said Officer Dennis Buckley.
A few minutes later the driver managed to slip away and as he was running from the truck at least two shots were fired, but no one was hit.
Police aren't saying if the suspects, who ran away from the complex on foot, managed to get away with any of the packages or the driver's money.
One of the suspects is being described as a black male about 6 feet 5 inches tall with a large build, wearing a black bandana, black t-shirt and blue jeans.
At least two residents at the Raindance Apartments say crime is nothing new here, but even this incident surprises them.
"I'm shocked, real shocked, man. I have got to move out of here" said resident Marshall Allen.
Allen has lived at the complex for only nine months and said his car was recently stolen.
Another resident, who didn't want to be identified, said she now fears for her family's safety.
Management at the complex has asked all media to leave the property.
Next door, managers at a senior retirement community said residents are being asked to stay inside and lock their doors while police continue looking for the suspects.
The driver was not injured.
