Metro Church Celebrates Good Friday with Multi-Sensory Experience

EDMOND, Oklahoma -- People all across the country also observing Good Friday services today. In the metro a church is commemorating the crucifixion of Jesus Christ with a one-of-a-kind service.

The experience itself is overwhelming. As soon as you walk in, all day, folks are packed inside and every person is given a guide for kids and adults with scriptures and prayers. I's part of the multi-sensory experience service to commemorate Good Friday.

"It's real easy to get wrapped up in the dresses and the Easter dinners and the external trappings of Easter, it's really easy to miss out on what Easter is really about," attendee Todd Vinson said.

For the Vinson Family, Easter has a much deeper sentiment.

"I learn that Jesus loves me and I learned that he loves me a lot and he died on the cross for my sins," attendee Avery Vinson said.

At Henderson Hills in Edmond the worship center is where families can learn about the events of Good Friday by touch, sight and smell.

"It was neat to have my daughter ask question and we understand the gravity of our condition without the relationship with Christ," Todd Vinson said.

Each station is a symbol of what Christ did for the people on the cross.

"I thought it was really neat to see what Jesus' life was like and what he went through thousands of years ago," Todd Vinson said.

This family of faith commutes half an hour to service every week.

"It's what sustains us, it's the wheel that gets us through the week and you drive that far for a ballgame or entertainment and that's what gets us through in our day to day lives in our family and in our work," Todd Vinson said.

The service will be open to the public until 7 p.m. tonight.
