Born and raised in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Amy McRee graduated from the University of Central Oklahoma with a bachelor's degree in broadcast communications and a minor in marketing. McRee began her broadcast career working at a local television station behind the scenes as an associate producer and assignment editor. From there, Amy McRee moved out to the Texas Panhandle to serve as a reporter for the NBC affiliate KAMR in Amarillo.

Amy McRee moved back to Oklahoma City and metro-area commuters became familiar with Amy McRee's bright smile when she joined NEWS 9 in June 2000 as the morning show's traffic reporter. McRee then moved on to become a general assignment reporter and covered everything from the Oklahoma City Police to Oklahoma's fierce tornadoes. Amy McRee then moved on to anchor the weekend evening news before stepping into her current anchor position in 2003.

Amy McRee enjoys staying active in the community. Whether she is helping raise money for organizations like the Special Olympics, or simply taking time out of her busy days to lend a hand around her church, Amy McRee likes to spend her time volunteering. You will also often find her emceeing local events around town or playing in charity golf tournaments.
