OKLAHOMA CITY -- An Oklahoma City family wants to know why their loved one was shot by an Oklahoma City police officer. The family of Tremall Anderson told NEWS 9 they are still waiting to find out why the officer tried to pull Anderson over Saturday night.

Lisa Love and her family are coping with Anderson's death the best they can, but they admitted, it all seems like a dream.

"It has a real toll on me. I can't get him out of my mind. It hurts a whole lot and I'm ready to put him to peace. It's just hard losing a child," Love said.

The family's nightmare began Saturday night. Police said they tried to pull over Anderson, but he took off and a pursuit began

"I hate it happened the way it did. I wished it could have been avoided," said Mary Carter, Anderson's grandmother. "I don't know why they stopped him. We haven't heard why they were chasing him."

During the chase, police said Anderson shot Officer Kris Hunter in the arm and possibly the leg. A second officer, Daniel Godsil, then shot and killed Anderson.

"They said they had his knees in his back and stuff. To me it's senseless to kill him. From what I heard, he gave up and they shot him anyway," said Sherry Crandell, Anderson's Aunt.

But even in their grief, the family said they're thankful the injured officer will be OK.

"My heart goes out to the family, but my heart also go out to my family," Carter said.

Anderson's family said they thought he was getting his life back together. Anderson was working as a barber, had a new baby who was just six days old, and was also getting ready to go back to school.

"That officer, he'll see his family again. We'll never see my brother-in-law again, just the not really knowing anything. It hurts. It hurts. He was so sweet. Can't imagine him doing anything like this, just really can't," said Mindy Scroggins, Anderson's sister-in-law.

Anderson had previously spent time in federal prison.

Oklahoma City police said why Anderson was pulled over couldn't be released until Officer Godsil, who shot and killed Anderson, was interviewed. Godsil was interviewed Tuesday and police said they plan to release more information Wednesday.
