NORMAN, Oklahoma -- A Cleveland County detention employee has been arrested for embezzling about $1,000 from several inmates, according to Cleveland County Sheriff's officials.

Cleveland County Sheriff Joe Lester said Calista Hullet, 30, embezzled cash from four inmates while they were being transferred out of the Cleveland County Detention Center.

"It is a sad day when someone charged with the responsibility for the safety and security of incarcerated persons chooses to victimize them," Lester said.

Officials learned of the embezzlement after the four inmates complained that their cash was missing. Hullet confessed to stealing the cash during an interview with the Sheriff's Detectives.

Hullet was arrested and booked into the Cleveland County Detention Center.
