OKLAHOMA CITY -- A pawn shop owner was killed when one of the guns a man was trying to pawn accidentally discharged, police said.

Police said a man brought several weapons into the Freedom Pawn shop near Northwest Expressway and MaCarthur Boulevard. When owner Jason Baggett, 32, went to inspect the weapons, one of the guns discharged.

"While inspecting those weapons, one of the weapons was accidentally discharged striking one of the owners of the pawn shop. That owner was later pronounced dead at the scene," said Oklahoma City Police Lt. Ron Bacy.

Police Sgt. Jennifer Wardlow said Baggett  died at the scene. He is the son of Oklahoma Democratic Party Secretary James Baggett.

Homicide investigators think the shooting was accidental.
