OKLAHOMA CITY -- In March, Doctors in Texas told Rubye Samilton she had cancer and only had eight to ten months to live.
It was devastating until a new doctor put her on a drug called Tarceva. She started feeling better, and says she felt like the medication gave her a second hope for life.
She started feeling better. She journeyed back to Oklahoma City this week, only to be devastated by thieves along the way."It's been a long way home, a long way home," Samilton said.
Rubye and Lloyd Samilton have a love story that stretches decades. They met in kindergarten and have had kids and now grandkids.
"She's just a love, caring person not only for me, for anybody," Lloyd Samilton said.
On their trip back home, the Samiltons stopped in San Antonio to rest. That's when thieves stole their U-Haul in the night.
Inside, was nearly everything they owned, including Rubye Samilton's Tarceva.
The medication costs them over $4000 a month.
"For me to just be able to gather enough money to buy 1 month's supply and then a half month supply was a miracle," Rubye Samilton said. "Then they took my miracle away from me. It's like they just murdered me."
Lloyd Samilton doesn't want to lose his wife of over 40 years.
"I want to keep her around as long as I can," Lloyd said.
