BETHANY, Oklahoma -- Prom has come and gone for many high school students, but it was a day to remember for the kids at the Children's Center in Bethany.

For many of the teens at the Children's Center, it was their first prom and dance. Like any pre-prom preparations, it took time to get dolled up and ready to head down the prom's red carpet.

It was a day father Tim Jordan thought he'd never witness.

"When she had her accident, I thought my world was turned upside down but I got to see she gets a taste of a normal child's process," said parent Tim Jordan.

Getting to see his 17-year-old Amanda is an event he couldn't miss.

"She's my darling every day, but this is special. This is extra special," Amanda's father Tim said.

"These kids get to experience what their same age peers are experiencing and we actually have a group of high school students with some interactions and just have some fun," said Children's Center Special Education teacher Heather Williams.

They're also learning a lesson and stimulating the senses with sights, sounds and smells. It was easy to see why there are no shortages of smiles.

"Getting to do this with her, I don't know how much longer we have with her," Tim Jordan said. "Every day is given to us and we have to cherish it."

Altogether about 30 kids got to go to the prom at the Children's Center and students from Yukon High School came in to volunteer at the annual prom festivities.
