OKLAHOMA CITY - Some Democrats say he's out of the mainstream politically, but Republican state Sen. Randy Brogdon says he's got the right message for main street if he makes a run for governor.
The 55-year-old Owasso Republican has formed an exploratory committee for a possible bid for the GOP nomination.
He would be going up against more well-known politicians, such as U.S. Rep. Mary Fallin, the former lieutenant governor who has already declared her candidacy.
U.S. Rep. Tom Cole and former Rep. J.C. Watts also have been mentioned as GOP possibilities, while Lt. Gov. Jari Askins has announced for the Democratic nomination and Attorney General Drew Edmondson has been raising money and is expected to jump into the contest.
Brogdon says getting his message out is his top priority, more than name recognition at this point.
The former owner of a wholesale air conditioning distribution business, Brogdon sounds a familiar conservative theme in advocating for lower taxes, limited government, local control and less government intrusion into the lives of citizens.
