HEALDTON, Oklahoma -- Healdton residents have become accustomed to a lack of rain. The women at the Senior Citizens Center can tell you how long it's been without rain.

"It's been about four months," resident Gertrude Leonard said.

As a result, the city lake, which provides most of Healdton's water, is down five feet, causing concern for City Manager Sherrie Adams.

"We have been watching the lake level fairly close since last December," Adams said. "We've had no significant rain since early fall."

This week the City Council imposed water restrictions for thirty days, including no outdoor watering permitted, for gardens or for lawns. Violators will be cited.

The city is calling on all local churches to pray for rain this Sunday.

"We'll be willing not just for a downpour of regular rain but that God would rain down on this town," said First Baptist Youth Minister Phillip Tallman. "We desire to see God move in powerful ways, physical rain and spiritual rain.

Healdton and Healdton's lake will welcome any kind of help.

Healdton officials said if the water level at the lake falls any lower, the city will have to pump water from wells into the lake.
