The 2013 Ride Against Childhood Hunger was a huge success! Thanks to our generous sponsors and riders, we were able to raise $160,000 for the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma's Food For Kids Program. The money raised is enough to provide 800 school children with backpacks full of kid-friendly food for weekends and holidays for an entire school year! We sincerely thank everyone who was a part of this year's event and are looking forward to another great ride next year as we continue the fight against childhood hunger in Oklahoma.
Congratulations to Jason Hughes of Woodward whose $46,000 bid won him this awesome one-of-a-kind Street Glide built by Covington’s Customs. Every dollar from this bike auction benefits the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma’s Food for Kids Backpack Program. A huge thank you to Case Wireline Services Inc. and Covingtons Customs for sponsoring this motorcycle.
A $200 donation can provide enough weekend and holiday food for one child for an entire school year. A gift of $5,000 will provide enough food for 25 hungry children at one school for an entire school year. Please donate now to the Regional Food Bank. Nearly Half of those receiving emergency food from the Regional Food Bank each week are children. Children need food to develop. Even going hungry for a short time can impact a child's health, behavior, and the ability to concentrate and perform complex tasks. Going without food can cause depression, aggression, anxiety, and poor social skills. Food is the most essential school supply. No child should go hungry. This is why we at Oklahoma's Own News 9 got involved.
