OKLAHOMA CITY -- The ice, snow and sleet are making a mess for drivers who take a chance on the roads. But the conditions are also causing a chain reaction of charity.

A lot of people have avoided the highways, but many drivers were still out on side streets that are covered with a mixture of sleet and snow, and underneath it a layer of ice.

The big trucks make it look so easy, but for the rest, slick streets might as well be a skating rink. But for each stranded driver, someone else seemed to run to help out.

On the other end of one tether is a man driving a big white truck. It's in his heart to help as Terry LeFrance is a member of the National Guard. He's helping stranded drivers as his way to pay it forward.

"Years ago, before I had my vehicle, I got stuck in a median and guys came by and pulled me out," LeFrance said.

The idea, just like the sleet, is sticking for drivers like Matthew Eastwood, who got help this icy day, are passing it on as well.

"I couldn't get out without someone else's help, so I figured what goes around comes around," Eastwood said.

LaFrance said in Oklahoma there's always a helping hand.

But of course the best thing is to just not drive unless absolutely necessary.
