OKLAHOMA CITY -- A woman was allegedly raped inside her NW Oklahoma City apartment after answering a knock at her door, but no one knew about it until several hours later.

It was a couple hours after the attack that the victim's roommates found her, her hands tied to the headboard of her bed, according to the Oklahoma City Police.

Residents said the Windsor Village Apartments become dangerous after sundown.

"A bunch of people walking around in the middle of the night and there are a lot of kids around," resident Romeo Mendez said. "That is a problem, but we're taking care of it, but at the same time there's danger."

A man came to the young woman's door Friday night, and thinking it was her boyfriend, the woman opened the door to find it was a stranger, police said. According to the report, he was dressed in dark clothes, black gloves and wearing a black mask.

"He forced his way in struck her in the head, knocking her unconscious," Sgt. Gary Knight said. "She was found a short time later by her roommates, tied up in the apartment and it is believed she is a victim of a sexual assault."

Word of the attack has since put residents on edge.

"I live here, my life's here," resident Ron Jackson said. "I have a 7-month-old daughter. When I'm gone, I worry what's going to happen. When I come home I hear about this."

Management said this was an isolated incident, still they're warning tenants to take precautions.

"Always check your peephole," said Pam Heisel of the Windsor Village Apartments. "Every door has a peephole and don't open the door for a stranger."

Management said there is armed security on the property at night, but tenants have their own forms of security.

"My gun's here," Jackson said. "She keeps my gun so not too worried. I showed her how to use it."

Management said they will send notices to the tenants on protecting themselves.
