Checking Out a Funeral Home

While doing this story, we learned the former funeral home owner (who still works at the funeral home) was investigated for not having the right permits and licenses... and he ultimately lost his right to be a funeral director in Oklahoma.

If someone sells you prearranged funeral plans, they must be registered through the Oklahoma Insurance Commission.  They get a permit to sell, and should be able to show it to you.  If you have any questions about a particular individual or company, you can call the Commission at 1-800-522-0071.

Any funeral home and any funeral director must be licensed through the state's Funeral Board.
