DALLAS -- While thousands of Sooner fans head south to Dallas, one Oklahoma wife is staying behind in the hospital, while her husband heads to the game.

Elton Rogers of Lawton has been waiting nine long months for his first child.

His wife, Michelle, went into contraction earlier this week and is expected to have their child this weekend. Unfortunately, the couple already bought their tickets to the OU-Texas game.

"I had to go to the game. She said I could 3-4 months ago," Rogers said.

Although Rogers may seem like a bad husband to miss the birth of his first child, the couple made a tough deal so he could head to the game. The condition: he had to give the extra ticket to his father-in-law.

Now both men are waiting for a phone call. If she goes into labor Saturday, Rogers said he has to leave Dallas and head to Lawton.

The family hopes their first born will be "Sooner born and Sooner bred."
