ENID, Okla. -- It's been a busy week for police in Enid, as they have dealt with both a large drug bust and a robbery.

Authorities in Enid said they're just like any other small town in Oklahoma. They said just because they're small, they still have the same problems as big cities when it comes to crime, and they're fighting back.

It may not look like much in person, but 11 ounces of crack and powdered cocaine worth about $30,000 on the street is the largest drug bust in the history of the Enid Police Department.

"There was no doubt about it, this was being brought back in or being imported back in to Enid," Capt. Dean Grassino with the Enid Police Department said. "It was going to be repackaged and resold on the streets of Enid."

Police made the bust early Saturday morning after stopping a car along Highway 412 east of the city.

Police believe 47-year-old Larry Robinson is the dealer. A search of Robinson's house turned up a gun stolen in a 2005 burglary, a police scanner, scales and several rounds of ammunition.

Police are also dealing with a rash of thefts. Over the weekend someone used a crowbar to break into 24 units at a storage facility. Police are still trying to identify what was taken and notify the owners.

"Usually we might see one or two, five maximum, but to have 24 hit all at once is pretty substantial," Lt. Bryan Skaggs with the Enid Police Department said.

Despite the busy weekend, police said having these types of crime in the small town is not that unusual.

"Per capita, our actual crime rate is down for part one crimes, but for people to believe, I live and Enid that these kinds of things just don't happen I think is being naïve. We have the same problem as big city just not as the same caliber," Grassino said.

Police said Robinson has several prior offences including drugs, burglary and sexual assault. Before this latest arrest, police locked Robinson up back in June on drug charges; he was out of jail on bond.
