Witnesses testify in taser attack case

OKLAHOMA CITY -- The two women, accused of plotting a taser attack on a Putnam City North cheerleading coach, appeared in court Wednesday.

Witnesses offered their testimonies, taking the stand to give their accounts of what happened on the day of the attack.

"The judge has found probable cause to believe that both crimes were committed, the crime of assault and the crime of conspiracy to commit assault," said First Assistant District Attorney Scott Rowland.

Leshawn Fisher, the alleged stun gun attacker, and Julie Ann Bell, a mother and alleged accomplice, are accused of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

Bethany Lorenz, the teacher and coach who was attacked, said April 18, Fisher flagged her down to ask questions about the school's cheerleading squad. Fisher was allegedly disguised in a blonde wig and sunglasses and armed with a stun gun.

"As I turned my head when she asked me to look at something, that's when she got me in the neck and started attacking me," Lorenz said.

The motive behind the attack is still unclear, but Bell's daughter testified Wednesday that her mother and Fisher have been friends for a few years.

Bell's daughter said she was upset about not making the varsity cheerleading team and complained to her mother that Lorenz would ‘pick on her in class.' She said her mother and Fisher texted each other in the weeks leading up to the attack.

According to Bell's daughter, Bell called her the day of the attack and said, "If anyone asks if I knew Leshawn Fisher, say you don't."

Both Bell and Fisher are scheduled to appear at a pre-trial hearing in September.
