JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) -- Tropical Storm Fay is hugging the east coast of Florida, just south of Cape Canaveral.
But so far it has not moved out over the Atlantic Ocean, where forecasters have said there's a chance it could strengthen and curve back toward the state as a hurricane.
They now says the storm's center may stay inland until this afternoon, making it less likely that it ever becomes a hurricane. Top winds are 50 miles per hour.
A hurricane watch is still in effect for parts of north Florida and Georgia.
A tropical storm warning has been extended, covering an area from north of Jupiter Inlet to an area about halfway between Jacksonville, Florida, and Savannah, Georgia.
