OKLAHOMA CITY-- Heat advisories and warnings are in effect in parts of Oklahoma Tuesday as dangerous triple-digit temperatures continue to dominate the state's weather pattern.

The National Weather Service said a ridge of high pressure will continue to be the dominant weather feature for the next several days.

A heat advisory is in effect until 7 p.m. Tuesday for most of eastern and western Oklahoma. A heat warning is in effect in Tulsa and Pittsburg counties.

But forecasters said changes to the state's overall weather pattern will bring some relief from the triple-digit heat.

Air temperatures will likely be a few degrees cooler across the southern third of the state Tuesday and Wednesday as Tropical Storm Edouard moves across Texas. But heat index values will also increase. Northern parts of the state will remain very hot and dry.
