God and baseball: Teen inspires team

OKLAHOMA CITY -- A metro teen, who inspired a book, has inspired a group of high school athletes.

The all-star baseball team "The Ambassadors" was formed in Justin Sullivan's honor.

The team travels all over the state and the country and they are the best baseball players in their schools, just like Justin was.

Justin was named the state's Baseball Player of the Year the day before a deadly crash.

"He was traveling on I-44 and a semi lost its back tire, came across the highway and hit his car, and killed him instantly," said family friend Chris Fetters.

Baseball was just one of Justin's passions. The other was his spiritual walk with Christ. The journal he kept is now part of a book called "A Life Worth Following."

"Though he was only 18, he was not one of those people who counted the days of his life," said Chris Wall, Justin's youth pastor. "He made the days of his life count."
The Ambassadors are taking his teaching to heart and spreading his message to others.

"They're going to Nicaragua and baseball is huge in Nicaragua. They will play in five games and while they are there, three or four thousand people will pack out each game," said Wall. "They will play college teams there and be able to share the gospel."

The Ambassadors are playing in the Justin Sullivan Tournament at the Bricktown Ballpark Monday night at 6 p.m. to raise money for a missions trip.

"He knew that God gave him the ability to use baseball and he knew that he was going to use that for God and his glory," said Ambassador's player Ryan Williams.
