CHICKASHA, Okla. -- An attack on a golf course mascot has people in Chickasha asking what happened to Aflac.

Aflac the goose actually guarded the gate at Cottonwood Creek Golf Club.

"He just appeared one day, floating around in our fountain," club owner Fran Morris said.

Pictures and memories are all that remain of the goose. Aflac was found dead Wednesday morning at Cottonwood Creek.

Someone had beaten the goose to death and left its body near a tree.

"It would take a very sick person to take it out on a little goose that wouldn't have run from him; he would just stand there," Morris said.

Aflac had become a fixture at the golf course. He'll be missed.

Friends dropped by all day to offer condolences. Fran and Jerry Morris buried Aflac by the gate he used to guard.

"I'm gonna do everything in our power to bring somebody to justice over this; It's just like having a pet dog or a pet cat or anything, it was my baby," Jerry said.

Fran and Jerry Morris are offering a $1,000 reward in Aflac's killing.
