EDMOND, Okla. -- It was a bizarre sight for motorists traveling on Interstate 35 through Edmond Sunday morning.

A tractor-trailer rig carrying thousands of processed chickens rolled on its side, spilling the poultry into the median, according to troopers.

Troopers said a woman driving north on I-35 crossed the center median near Danforth Road and struck the tractor-trailer head on.

The woman was taken to the hospital in critical condition. The truck's driver was also hurt.

Parts of the interstate were closed for more than three hours.
